Ricardo Sousa is an Orthopedics and Traumatology surgeon in ULS Santo António – Porto and with a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Porto with the thesis “Prophylaxis, Diagnosis and Treatment of Prosthetic Joint Infections”.

He focus his practice and clinical research activities in the area of joint reconstruction, replacement and revision especially in knee and bone and joint infections, being the author of numerous scientific papers and book chapters.

He founded and coordinates the Porto Osteoarticular Infection Group (GRIP) since its foundation in 2017, with a presence ULS Santo António – Porto and at the Trindade (Porto) and Tejo (Lisbon) Hospitals of the CUF Group

Ricardo Sousa is currently President of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society.
