Luísa Lobato obtained the MD degree and the PhD in Medical Sciences at Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar (ICBAS), University of Porto, Portugal.
She is senior nephrologist at Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Santo António, Porto, and full professor at ICBAS. Presently, she is Director of the Department of Nephrology, coordinator of Erasmus+ Programme at ICBAS and President of Scientific Committee of the Portuguese Society of Nephrology. She holds the position of UMIB vice-coordinator and ERKNet (European Rare Kidney Disease Reference Network) senior clinician expert. As researcher she is dedicated to hereditary amyloidosis, with emphasis in ATTR (transthyretin) and AFib (fibrinogen) amyloidosis.
Luísa Lobato is a mentor in the YNP Mentorship Programme of ERA – The European Renal Association.
