• Medical Consultant as Nephrologist to the Clinical and Therapeutical Governance of FMC Deutschland GmbH since 2020. Development of several medical educational contents regarding “Introduction training in dialysis for non nephrologists”, in order to improve knowledge and skills of physicians working in NephroCare.

Current research interests
• Clinical research on nutritional care in end stage renal disease patients on dialysis (haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis).
• Clinical research on metabolic impact of peritoneal dialysis, investigating the potential effects of glucose in metabolic outcomes in this population.
• Prize Raul Martins 2010, awarded by the Portuguese Society of Nephrology to the published clinical investigation “Overweigth rather than malnutrition is widely prevalent in peritoneal dialysis Patients” (Bernardo AP, Fonseca I, Rodrigues A, Carvalho MJ, Cabrita A. • Prize Raul Martins 2011, awarded by the Portuguese Society of Nephrology to the best scientific manuscript published in 2011 in Peritoneal Dialysis field.
