La Salete Alves is a medical Doctor in Dental Surgery, Dentist (ISCS-N/CESPU), with specialization in Orthodontics (FMUP), Aesthetic Oral Rehabilitation (FMUP), and Advanced Endodontics (University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain). She holds a Master degree in Legal Medicine (ICBAS-UP), and a PhD degree in Medical Sciences (ICBAS-UP). She is a Forensic Dentistry Specialist at the Centro Medico-Legal Prof. J. Pinto da Costa, Lda, and holds a private dental clinic, “Clínica La Salete Alves”. She performed postgraduate trainings in Medico-Legal Sciences (ICBAS-UP), in Oral and Extra-Oral Rehabilitation with OsteoIntegrated Implants (FMUP), in Post-Traumatic Body Damage Assessment (FMUP), and in Medicine for Travel and Mobile Populations (FMUP). She was an Invited Assistant in Forensic Dentistry, at the Master of Forensic Sciences (ISCS-N/CESPU). Currently, she is an Invited Assistant in the Specialization Course of Medico-Legal Sciences and in the Master’s in Legal Medicine (ICBAS, UP), and an Invited Assistant Professor at the University Institute of Health Sciences (IUCS) at CESPU, being Ruler of the Curricular Unit of Forensic Dentistry. She is a staff Scientific Reviewer of the International Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine (JFLM), and an Affiliate Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED). She is the President of the Portuguese Association of Forensic Dentistry (APMDF). She presents five international articles and holds a research project with CHUP. She has been an Invited Speaker for several national and international lectures. She authored the book “Prof. J. Pinto da Costa – The Doctor, the Teacher, the Communicator”. She is a Researcher in the Biology and Genetics of Reproduction/Molecular and cellular Medicine (BGR/MCM) group of the UMIB-Unit for Multidisciplinary Research in Biomedicine/ITR-Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health, ICBAS, University of Porto, Portugal.
