Tiago Soares Santos é mestre em Medicina pela Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto. Realizou o Internado de Formação Específica em Otorrinolaringologia no Centro Hospitalar de Entre o Douro e Vouga, o qual terminou em 2016. É, também, desde 2016, Fellow of the European Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Atualmente, é assistente hospitalar no Serviço de Otorrinolaringologia, na Unidade de Rinologia e Cirurgia Endoscópica Transnasal Avançada. Aluno de doutoramento em Ciências Biomédicas pelo Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar da Universidade do Porto, tem como projecto de doutoramento “Chronic Rhinosinusitis and Motile Ciliary Disorders: Clinical Assessement and Treatment”. Pertence ainda ao Grupo de Biologia e Genética da Reprodução/ Medicina Molecular e Celular da Unidade Multidisciplinar de Investigação Biomédica. É autor ou co-autor de cerca de 10 artigos científicos em revistas com arbitragem científica.
