World's Top 2% Most Cited Scientists- Marco Alves

To celebrate the inclusion of three UMIB researchers among the “World’s Top 2% Scientists list”, we are making a small feature for each of them. Today we bring you the work of Marco Alves!

Marco Alves is a reputed biologist in the field of reproductive physiology and metabolism, with more than 200 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and two patents to his name. His recent inclusion in the “World’s Top 2% Scientists list”, which comprises the most cited researchers in 2021, consolidates his international recognition as a Top researcher in his field. Recently, as of September 2020, he has also been distinguished by Expertscape as the number one researcher in fertility, besides several other awards and distinctions including in Portuguese and International Societies. He has given more than 60 lectures worldwide and supervises several PhD and master students. He is Principal Investigator of grants and leads a topic subgroup focused on “Lifestyle and sexual Health” in the European Sexual Medicine Network. His work has been highlighted internationally, for instance with a cover for the Biochemical Journal and a Press release by the American Journal of Physiology. UMIB welcomes such distinctions!
