UMIB Researchers Celebrate World Kidney Day 2025 Raising Awareness on Kidney Health

On March 13, 2025, as a celebration of World Kidney Day, UMIB researchers from the Nephrology, Dialysis, and Transplantation Group promoted educational sessions at Infante D. Henrique Secondary School in Porto and Vilela Basic and Secondary School in Paredes.

This year, the World Health Organization’s campaign, which ULS de Santo António and UMIB proudly joined, carried the theme “Are Your Kidneys Healthy? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health.” The initiative aimed to educate students on the importance of kidney health and the prevention of chronic kidney disease. Key topics included the impact of chronic kidney disease, essential habits for prevention, and available treatment options.

The success of this awareness campaign was made possible thanks to the dedication of Science Teachers, Health Education Project Coordinators, and School Directors, along with the enthusiastic participation of students. UMIB continues to work towards better kidney health through education, research and community engagement.
