What is the new VEXAS syndrome
It is a rare, autoinflammatory disease that can lead to death.
Its origin is genetic and there is still no standard treatment.
The recently discovered VEXAS syndrome is being identified in Portugal. To help identify these patients, a multidisciplinary team from Santo António Hospital is developing a test that allows diagnosis.
Doctor Raquel Faria, coordinator of the auto-inflammatory syndromes consultation at CHUdSA and researcher at UMIB, is part of this team.
