UMIB Researchers Featured in World’s Top 2% Scientists Ranking

The “World’s Top 2% Scientists list”, recently updated with 2024 data, once again places researchers from the University of Porto and UMIB among the most influential scientists worldwide. Compiled by a team at Stanford University, this prestigious ranking evaluates global research impact using rigorous bibliometric indicators, including citation performance, authorship roles, and influence across scientific fields.

In the latest edition, 205 researchers from the University of Porto were ranked among the world’s most cited scientists. Within this group are Manuela Gomes, Mário Sousa, and Tiago Torres, members of UMIB’s Scientific Committee, whose scientific contributions continue to drive progress in their fields.

The 2025 career-long impact edition further emphasizes the enduring excellence of U.Porto research, honoring 138 scientists for their sustained achievements. Among them, Manuela Gomes and Tiago Torres once again stand out for the lasting influence of their work at the international level.

This international recognition underscores not only the excellence of UMIB’s research, but also the growing global visibility of Portuguese science.
