Brief description:

The Instituto de Genética Médica Doutor Jacinto Magalhães (IGM) was founded in 1980 with the aim of gathering the clinical and laboratorial abilities in a multidisciplinary approach to medical genetics towards improving health care, research and training in this field.

In 2013, it was renamed Centro de Genética Médica Doutor Jacinto Magalhães (CGMJM) and joined the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto, however keeping its original address (Praça Pedro Nunes, n.º 88, 4099-028 Porto).

It also hosts a National Central for acquisition, storage and distribution of hypoproteic dietary products since 1990, under responsibility of the nutrition consultation and officially supported by the Ministry of Health (Despacho 14/319, 2ª série de 29 de Junho de 2005).
